Paul & Co enters joint venture for Asia Paul Asia & Co Paul & Co, one of the worlds largest paper core manufacturers has entered into a joint venture with the Sachdev family from Thailand to introduce the manufacturing of paper cores throughout Asia. The regional Head Office, Paul Asia & Co, is based in Bangkok, Thailand. Paul & Co has been exporting high quality paper cores from Europe to Asia for the past 5 years and believes the time is appropriate to begin manufacturing all over Asia. A production facility is currently under construction in Jakarta, Indonesia and will be able to supply Asian customers with Asian cores with the same high quality standard by the middle of 1998.

Paul Asia & Co will now take over the strategic management, marketing, customer support and business & brand development functions for Paul & Co in Asia. As each production facility comes on-line, they will act as independent operations units leaving the regional strategy and overview to Paul Asia & Co. Background Paul & Co was founded in 1893 and has been producing paper cores in Wildflecken/Rhon since 1948. Expansion has been a constant and today there are 4 production facilities in Germany, one in St-Etienne, France, one in Lenzhard, Switzerland and one in Breitenau, Austria. The first plant in Asia should be ready for production by middle of 1998. The Sachdevs family business was founded in Bangkok, Thailand in 1932. M.R.A Group, the main holding arm, is involved in trading and investments in industrial ventures in the basic chemical, textiles and now paper converting industries.
Paul & Co establishes business tie-up with Japans largest paper core producer.
Paul & Co and Nippon Paper Cores enters into a Strategic Alliance Paul & Co, one of the worlds largest paper core manufacturers has entered into a Strategic Alliance with Japans largest core producer, Nippon Paper Core (NPC). The aim and purpose of this alliance is to offer a uniformed global product and services range to present and future multinational customers. Both partners will standardize their marketing strategy, product development and quality assurance to offer a seamless supply to international customers worldwide. In the future, the products of both companies will be offered and sold under the same brand name. There will also be joint development of new products and technologies that will be available to our customers simultaneously in both Europe and Asia. Customers with production units in both Europe and Asia will benefit most from this alliance, as they will now be able to receive the same quality and service at all their locations in both continents. The combined team of Paul & Co and Nippon Paper Core will now be able to produce over 200,000 tons of paper cores annually, with a turnover of US$ 240 million from 25 production facilities and 1200 highly trained employees. Paul Asia & Co opens first production facility in Asia, PT. Paul Buana.
Paul Asia & Co, the regional arm of Paul & Co, one of the largest paper core producers in the world, announces the opening of its first production facility in Asia, PT. Paul Buana Indonesia The plant is located on the outskirts of Jakarta, Indonesia in the Bumi Serpong Damai Industrial Estate. It is fully equipped with the latest machinery from Paul & Co and ready to produce the highest quality paper cores for our existing and future customers. The plant also contains a Quality System laboratory and the largest core drying facility in Asia, ensuring that production will be of comparable quality to other facilities in the group. PT. Paul Buana Indonesia will be able to supply the complete range of Paul & Co cores for both the domestic Indonesia market and surrounding markets of ASEAN, China, South Korea, Australia and others in Asia. Paul & Co. is named supplier of the year by Ricoh. Ricoh company, Ltd., one of the world's leading suppliers of office automation equipment, including copiers, facsimile machines, data processing systems, and related supplies has named Paul & Co. supplier of the year for 1998.

Paul & Co. has expanded its production base in Europe. By purchasing Sofratube a subsidiary of Sonoco in St Hilaire, France, Paul & Co. has expanded its production base in Europe. The transaction consists of the Sofratube plant in St Hilaire, France, including the convolute tube activity and associated assets. The acquisition expands the present convolute tubes production of the Paul Group and assists in consolidating its market position being one of the largest suppliers of paper cores and edge protectors in Europe. Paul & Co. will develop the St. Hilaire plant to specialize in the production of cores for the textile and plastic film industries. The jobs in the two French converting sites of St. Etienne and St. Hilaire will be maintained completely. The Paul Group, together with the corrugated plants operated by the Kunert family is one of the leading European paper converters. Today they produce spiral and convolute wound paper cores, edgeboard and edge protectors for reels at 9 plants in Europe for multiple applications. The Kunert family also has two corrugated cardboard plants in Germany for the production of industrial packaging that are part of the Alliabox European Network. |
